In a bid to attract more members, the Wetaskiwin Children’s Indoor Play Society (CHIPS) is lowering its membership prices.

Starting Thursday, April 11, the price of the playground’s six-month-long membership will be $10, down from $20 per half year, said Desiree Graham, president of the non-profit.

Graham said the reason for the discount is to increase their membership.

The promotion is effective until April 19 and those who subscribe for the new price will be eligible to enjoy the price until May 31.

In a Facebook post, CHIPS said that the non-profit is in the process of restructuring CHIPS and revamping what it offers to the community.

“Our goal is to provide exceptional services to our community, and we want to welcome as many people as possible to join us on this exciting journey,” the post reads.

The post further reads that “we have some exciting new membership options in the works that require little to no commitment from our members, as well as extended opening hours, new programming, and some other fun surprises that we can’t wait to share with you!”

Graham says she wasn’t sure why the playground isn’t attracting more members, but thought it might be because of the operating hours.

Currently, the playground does not offer late afternoon, night, or weekend hours – a situation that makes attending tough for parents due to weekly routines.

But Graham added that they’re hoping to add these hours to their schedule in the future.

CHIPS is located at 5606 47 St and is open from Tuesday through Friday at various time slots.

The playground accepts children from preschool to ten years old.
